Boracay 1

Updated: Jun 1, 2021

Let me share with you guys my first ever experience solo traveling and it was my first time to visit Boracay as well. It wasn't out of the spur moment when I decided to go with my plan. I dreamed of doing solo travel ever since I was 25 years old. I wasn't as capable before, confident, and money-wise. I'm not saying I'm confident now but there was just this personal reason that I really had to get out of the city and find something new.

I flew via Cebu Pacific from Davao-Cebu-Caticlan. As I arrived at Boracay Airport in Caticlan, it was the smallest airport I've ever been to. I arranged a ride to Boracay Island through the airport's transportation counters.

I paid Php 700 for the whole trip, from the van going to Tabon Port, Municipality of Malay, rode a boat going to Boracay Island, then lastly, the e-trike going to my booked hostel. Again, as I was looking for something new, this was actually my first time staying in a hostel. The whole trip took around 90 minutes.

I booked W Hostel in Station 2 for my 4 nights stay in Boracay. I went for a mixed dorm type and my roommates were from China and Korea, I was the only Filipino there. W Hostel does rooftop parties every Wednesday and Saturday so I decided to give it a try. The rooftop has this great view plus it has a swimming pool and gaming area. I decided to get dinner first before heading to the rooftop party.

I walked around Station X and then D-Mall. I was so happy I got to sit and eat in Baharat Kabsa Steakhouse. For those who know me, I do enjoy Indian, Middle Eastern, Saudi Arabian cuisine, and the like. So, for dinner, I ordered Quarter-Chicken Kabsa.

After dinner, I went directly to the rooftop party. Upon arriving, I felt so awkward since people there already know each other and were playing Jenga. A cutie Filipina solo traveler went beside me. As we were ordering drinks, she introduced herself to me. (Been friends through IG ever since). She thought I was a Korean but then upon learning I was a Filipina, she invited me to join them and introduced me to the group. There were a few exchanges of chats and some stories of what happened earlier that day. I met this girl from Brazil and this guy from Oman. Both of them were solo travelers as well. We also played with this group of Koreans. The night ended early since they were exhausted from spending the whole afternoon at Puka Beach.
